Dragon's Den Star James Caan Sells £40m Bradford University Student Accommodation

The Green development includes townhouses and apartments and has excellent green credentials, with one of the highest BREEAM ratings.

The development was acquired from the consortium which includes Wellbeck Land Limited and Hayaat Group, with representation from Arzan Wealth in Dubai, with advice from the firm 90 North Real Estate, chaired by James Caan.

Nicolas Judd, founding partner of 90 North commented, "The Green being brand new, is one of the best student housing campuses in the UK. In an increasingly competitive educational environment, the university can offer its students award-winning accommodation at a reasonable cost." The modern day student now demands more from their accommodation, including a convenient location within walking distance of the university campus, a higher quality of facilities for both work and leisure.

Bradford College and University have a combined total of 37,000 students and are well established within the overseas market, with 22% of students originating from overseas. These numbers are putting a strain on local supply of good quality student accommodation that is affordable, such as The Green and increases demand for self-contained accommodation.

Appleton Point ticks all of these boxes. The development is on the doorstep of University of Bradford and Bradford College; features self-contained en-suite studios with a kitchenette, study rooms and I.T. suite to assist with their work; gym, cinema room and a games/TV room for entertainment; all available at a competitive weekly rental.

Appleton Point is an extremely attractive to students, but also to investors, who are able to stipulate a longer tenancy than student pods, supporting a 9% net rental return. Investors can purchase an en-suite self-contained studio for just £51,000.
