Student Rents Increase Year on Year

There are highly positive signs for the student accommodation market following research undertaken by "Accommodation for Students" with the average rent in the UK for student accommodation rising 3.1% from 2012 to 2013.

London leads the way with higher weekly rents, but locations including Salford in Greater Manchester have seen average rents rising by 15% year-on-year. Invest in Riverside House student accommodation investment Salford.

Generally, the greatest increases in rent are in the South of England, with locations such as Southampton seeing a 10% increase. Invest in Southampton student accommodation.

The research indicates that 70% of students prefer the all inclusive option where their utility bills are included within the rental price, as this helps them to budget and keep track of their finances.

Students also have a preference towards private halls of residence, as opposed to university owned halls. Private halls of residence, such as Riverside House in Salford are in prime locations close to the university campus and offer students brand new purpose built accommodation with an excellent range of facilities and all inclusive bills, which is highly attractive for students.

Director of Accommodation for Students, Simon Thompson, commented, "The student accommodation market remains robust and is still one of the most attractive yield classes for property investment. We are still seeing large scale development in student accommodation up and down the country."
