Macdonald Hotels & Resorts have invested in a new Revenue Management System (RMS) across its hotels to optimise revenue.

The powerful technology will allow centralised revenue management, where a team of professionals can focus on optimising the group's revenue streams. This concept is rarely adopted by mid-sized hotel groups, who typically focus on the front-of-house systems and facilities, inevitably providing Macdonald Hotels & Resorts with an edge over similar sized hotel operators to maximise their revenue.

The IDeaS Revenue Management System is provided by IDeaS Revenue Solutions, who are a leading pricing and revenue management software provider and consultancy.

Stephen Dodman, the Revenue Director for Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, commented, "On top of its capability to maximise revenues, the IDeaS RMS will also allow Macdonald Hotels & Resorts to fully automate the online distribution process, enabling our hotels to distribute rates more effectively and offer huge benefits in terms of time and accuracy."

"Macdonald Hotels & Resorts portfolio consists of hotels that have clearly defined specialist markets, including golf and spa destinations. Without the IDeaS RMS, the manual process of managing so many online channels, and maintaining rate parity across all channels in a dynamic market proved both time-consuming and prone to human error."

The CEO of Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, David Guille said, "Having always recognised the importance of revenue management and the difference it could make to the bottom line at Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, the growth in our partnership with IDeaS gives me great confidence in the future."

The Macdonald JQ Hotel in Birmingham will have the benefit of this technology to optimise the hotel's returns. The hotel is due for completion in 2014 and investors can invest in a room within the JQ Hotel Birmingham, for just £44,975 cash input, with returns expected to achieve an 11% net rental return per annum.
