KEY FEATURES
Göcek, one of the most beautiful ports on the south west coast of Turkey is approximately 22kms east of Dalaman International Airport, and 35kms west of the main town of Fethiye. There are three stunning marinas capable of holding up to 1500 yachts.
The quaint cobbled streets of the town are pedestrianised and boast an astonishing number of quality retail outlets and designer shops. Popularised by the international yachting set and a frequent stop over for the Turkish and European glitterati, Gocek has a charm all of its own. Bars and restaurants are strung along the waterfront, serving superb sea food and traditional mezes, to be washed down with a cold Efes beer or the traditional drink - ‘Raki’, while you enjoy the beautiful surroundings which have made Göcek a place of increasing popularity.Spectacular sunrises over the mountains behind the town and the clear aqua waters around the bays make the area a paradise for the more discerning traveller and lovers of peace and tranquility.
The fact that Göcek’s unique natural environment is strictly protected will ensure that the area cannot be over developed, an additional attraction for those wishing to purchase a holiday home or to live here permanently.

THE HISTORY
Daidalos was the original name given to Göcek and the surrounding area in ancient times. Legends claim that the name is derived from the architect Daidalos who was the creator of Icarus, the first man to fly. It is also believed that Daidalos, or Göcek, served as the main port town of Lycia in the times of Strabo and Herodotus. At the village of Inlice, 5 km to the south of Göcek, you can see a temple-type rock tomb at the entrance of the village. This gives us an idea of the boundaries of the ancient city.
While time passes and brings with it the inevitable changes, Gocek still remains relatively unspoilt and the peace, tranquility and spectacular beauty of Göcek and its surrounding areas is still very much alive.
