Paul McCartney's Fame School Saves John Lennon's Art College

Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA) has stepped in to save John Lennon's art college from being turned into residential apartments.

LIPA has stepped in and have agreed to buy the £3.7 million site on Hope Street in Liverpool, which is a Grade II listed former art college. The building next door features the college's lecture hall, which is where John Lennon famously met his first wife, Cynthia. LIPA itself was formerly Sir Paul McCartney's and George Harrison's old grammar schools.

The building, which dates back to the 1880's will be retained as an educational facility, bringing two historic Beatles linked buildings together and providing the capacity for LIPA's future growth.
