Confirmed by the FA last month, the JD Stadium will see England’s under 18 side face the Netherlands in a repeat of last year’s U17 Championship final. Featuring many of the same players from that thrilling match, the FA described the fixture as a ‘mouth-watering clash’.

Hosting the match is a great coup for the League Two side who have seen a great deal of investment both on and off the pitch since the arrival of chairman Stewart Day in May 2013. The news comes following a great year for Bury FC as they continue to build towards their goal – promotion to League 1. This summer, the club have invested £150,000 on relaying the pitch at Gigg Lane in addition to extensive improvements being made to the surface and its drainage systems. This is one of the many measures that the club have enacted as a part of their ongoing improvement scheme, with plans for a new training ground and the redevelopment of the ground’s main stand.

All of this work is to build a sustainable and successful future for fans at the JD Stadium. With this in mind, the club is also in the process of redeveloping its 292 space car park, with each of the spaces available for investment and providing a solution to the limited parking options fans face on match days.
